I've moved!

It has been an amazing journey thus far but we know that all good things must come to an end. From here and on, I will no longer be posting my blog entries here. I have decided to partner with Flosites and create a new online journal. Ross & his staff having been working with diligently in making this transition a smooth one. Not only did they create my new blog, but they imported ALL of the content from here and moved it there! I'm super stoked and if your blog need a face-lift, I would definitely check these guys out!

eSession with Andres & Kim

I was stoked when Andres & Kim asked me to photograph their wedding. Andres is a super-talented photographer and teacher from Nyack and he shot few weddings with me. It is always an honor to be asked by another photographer to capture their special moments especially because they have an eye for capturing beautiful images themselves. Andres & Kim gave me total control and just acted like a normal couple client would. I had complete freedom to capture some fun moments with them through out various parts of lower Manhattan side. NY is one of my favorite places to shoot and it even graced us with good weather and little bit of rain to add character to our shoot.

I can't post everything as well shot alot but here's just a quick preview of what's to come.

My new blog is almost here. Thanks for your patience!

Here's a funny comic strip that I read today. Reminds me of me in lot of ways. :) I love What The Duck series by Aaron Johnson. If you haven't had chance to check them out, please do! :)

Kenny Kim Featured in the Knot: Mark & Jinny

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jinny and Mark, both physicians, started dating when they met in medical school. One fall, Mark took Jinny on a surprise trip to Vermont. There, while hiking in the Green Mountains, they reached a lookout and stopped to admire the view.

The Bride Jinny Kim, 28, physician
The Groom Mark Duncan, 30, physician
The Date March 8

Suddenly Mark pulled a ring out of his backpack, got down on his knees, and proposed. "The entire way back down the mountain, I kept tripping because I couldn't help admiring my new ring!" Jinny says. Five months later, they were married in the Oak Park church where Mark's father was a pastor. Although it was early March, the wedding festivities were awash in purples and greens in tribute to Easter and the coming spring.

Big thanks to The Knot and their staff for featuring my work. It's always honor to have your work recognized. My good friend/mentor Bob Davis came to assist me that day (It still sounds weird saying that). Also David Lai & Megan Lloyd came to help us out that day so it made it ton of fun!

I love what my Cliff Mautner said: "We're only as good as our clients." So thank you Mark & Jinny for making that possible for me to photograph.

WPPI 2009: Wrap-Up Review

(Panoramic Photo by Dustin Francis)

Whew. It was the longest 6 days of my life. I've finally caught up from all the craziness of hustle & bustle at WPPI 2009 Convention. Skip Cohen and staff at RangeFinder sure do know how to put on the "Greatest Show on Earth" for weddding & portrait photographers. This was my third year attending the convention and it was a little different experience for me as I officially got to document everything through my camera. I normally do this wherever I go, but having given the privilege, I accepted the challenge and got my A-game on to cover as much of the event as I can. Well with 10,000+ in attendance, trying to be (in the words of Dane Sanders) ubiquitous was nearly impossible - even with the assistance of two other photographers (Dustin Francis & Kenny Nakai). After sifting through 10,000, I was able to cull it down to 1200 for submission and 200 for blog/facebook. One of the toughest thing about covering events like this is to see things from different perspectives (attendees, speakers, staff as well as for people that didn't get to attend WPPI but want to live through the experience vicariously). It was a long and laborious effort and I still have more images to edit through. But I know many of you are expecting anxiously to see the images online so I will leave you with these to share with you:

If you cannot view the slideshow above, click on this link.

Thank you WPPI for this great opportunity. Big shout to Dustin & Kenny that came to help me out. They definitely made this experience more fun. Also, big thanks to Ed Meyers at Canon for loaning me their super sick 200mm F2.0 lens!

Coming soon...
This might be my last official post on xanga. My new blog will be launched next week and I'm stoked to share it with you as soon as it is released. I will keep you guys posted!

Off to Vegas... Follow me on Twitter!

Hey everyone, I'm off to Vegas and before I get on my flight (in about 2 mins), I wanted to let you know that I'll be doing random updates through out the day of my experience there.

Catch me if you can... on Twitter

Follow me on twitter. I will give out a clue or two each day to let you know where I am. If you find me, you'll get one of my t-shirts!

What is Twitter you ask? I have no time to explain except to say that you should get one if you don't have one by now. Here's a link to Wikipedia that explains it better.

See you in Vegas! :)
